Tijs Klaassen (1993) is a Dutch double bass and bass guitar player living in Amsterdam. Apart from leading his own band, the Tijs Klaassen Quintet, he’s a sideman in a large number of bands in the Dutch jazzscene. He studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with jazz teachers Ernst Glerum, Frans van der Hoeven, Ruud Ouwehand and classical teacher Peter Leerdam. During his exchange semester in Philadelphia (USA) he studied with David Wong at the Boyer College of Music and Dance. During his stay in the United States he took private lessons with Ron Carter, Orlando Le Fleming, Rick Rosato and Ben Street.
